Hey friends!
It’s Sasha (with a little from Katie) coming to you from the ever-eventful Sand Cherry. Lately, the weather’s been playing peek-a-boo, transitioning from warm sunny days that revived our cool season grasses to sudden snowy bouts. Those delicious patches of green? They’ve been replaced by the hay bales, which, while tasty, aren’t as fun as fresh grass.
Speaking of fun, Grandpa had a small hiccup recently. While we were collecting stove wood, his truck got stuck in a tricky spot near the creek. Grandma to the rescue! Although she was in the middle of making salsa and sauerkraut, she came over with the diesel pickup and pulled Grandpa out. Let’s just say her nostrils flared quite a bit!
Amidst these adventures, we got to enjoy the grandeur of the old cottonwoods my Great-Great Grandpa planted way back in the 1940s. Katie, always the playful one, turned wood collection into a fetching game, delighting in every stick and log she could grab.
Our evening excursions are always exciting. The other day, we spotted some rooster pheasants in the Rabbit Pasture. While I gave them a courteous pass, Katie showed genuine interest, inching closer with every step. And though the first few startled her with their sudden flights, she soon got the hang of it.
Oh, and geese! Swarms of them took to the sky today. But, guess what? One decided to drop a surprise on Katie. Yep, right between her brows! After Grandpa’s chuckles, a bit of snow was all it took to clean her up.
Now, Katie wants to share something special…
“Hi, it’s Katie here. I’m having a ball here, except for the goose’s little gift. But I have some secret news! Tomorrow’s Grandma’s birthday! 🎂 Grandpa got a cake, and we’re preparing a surprise dinner. So, shush, it’s a secret.”
Wishing everyone a warm and fuzzy night!
Woofs and tail wags,
Sasha 🐾 and Katie 🎾
