Dear Friends,

Howdy from our bustling Sand Cherry Farms in Fort Morgan, Colorado! It’s me, Sasha, the loyal yellow Labrador retriever. I pray this letter finds you in good spirits. It sure has been a whirlwind of activity around here. These paws have been kept busy, and I can’t wait to share the latest tales from my perspective.

The weather has been delightful, with warm days and cool nights, perfect for us dogs to frolic about. The shortening days have made everything ripen faster. We’ve had gusty wind last night and today but still warm. Our green and wax beans have called it quits for this year, but the cucumbers, chilies, and peppers are still going strong.

My beloved companion, Grandma, has about 30 tomato plants of different types. With the wonderful weather, we’re picking tomatoes every day. I even convinced Grandpa to bring up the chile roaster so that we could start roasting some peppers, a sight to behold, I tell you!

Apart from harvesting, Grandma is also diligent in canning and pickling, preparing for the cold winter days ahead. One day, we decided to pick our apples as the predicted wind didn’t bode well for our 17 apple trees laden with fruit. Our kind neighbor, Melony Romero, pitched in, and by dusk, we had close to 20 bushels of apples!

Oh, did I mention the cantaloupe? They’re ripe now and as sweet as honey. We even had one that weighed 12 pounds! I’ve also been checking on the cattle and helping with the windmill. Life at Sand Cherry Farms is as exciting as it gets!

Now, I must talk about my little adventure with Uncle Chet and Grandpa to Sterling. We had to repair a quad, and on the way, we stopped at Wendy’s. Chet, a brilliant mechanic, fixed a submersible pump for a neighbor in no time at all.

At night, we’ve had some unwelcome guests – coyotes, trying their luck at a duck or chicken dinner. Grandpa does a quick job of chasing them off. On a brighter note, we’ve started seeing Monarch butterflies in our garden. It’s always a joy to watch them flutter about.

However, it’s not all work and no play. Grandpa and I take some time off at dusk to feed Katie and Wick. One evening, we even spotted two wild turkeys in the corral pasture!

After the whirlwind of activities, I sleep soundly all night long. But as daybreak comes, I’m raring to go again, ready for another day at the farm. To Katie, Annie, and all my friends, I’m sending loads of wagging tails and doggy kisses your way. Good night and until my next letter, dream delightful doggy dreams!

Paws and love,

Sasha
